SEAN PATRICK RIORDAN

From an early age Sean had a thirst for all things legal and political. While attending college at Molloy College on Long Island, NY, Sean interned/worked for various political offices, including the Nassau County Comptroller Fred Parola; Nassau County Legislator Joe Scannell; New York State Attorney General Elliot Spitzer and New York State Senator Charles Schumer. In 2000 Sean interned on the Hillary Clinton for New York State Senate campaign. In August, 2001 Sean began law school at St. John's University School of Law, working in various areas of law during the three years of studying. In 2001 Sean worked for the prestigious immigration law firm of DiRaimondo & Masi, LLP. and continued working there until the summer of 2002 when he joined the Queens District Attorney's office as a summer associate. In 2003 Sean began working for Brecher, Fishman, Pasternack, Popish, Heller, Rubin & Reif, LLP's Workers' Compensation division, where he found a passion for representing, and advocating for, injured workers.

After graduating law school in 2004, Sean continued working for Brecher, Fishman as an associate attorney in its Social Security Disability, Municipal Disability Pension and Short Term Disability divisions. Putting the trial advocacy skills taught at St. John's to use, Sean quickly became recognized as a leader in this field of disability law and began working closely with various public and private sector labor unions to represent their injured members. In 2006 Sean teamed with John Feal and the renowned Feal Good Foundation ("FGF") to assist its 9/11 First Responder Community in their disability claims. Seeing a need for greater federal assistance for this community, Sean joined FGF and union leaders in the halls of Congress to fight for the initial Zadroga legislation. Through sheer determination and "guerrilla advocacy", where First Responders flooded the Congressional leaders offices to advocate for the assistive legislation, the Zadroga Bill was signed into law. Sean was subsequently awarded "The Advocate" award from the FGF for his legal and political guidance.

In 2009 Sean joined the law firm of Sherman, Federman, Sambur & McIntyre, LLP and headed up their SSD and Municipal Disability Pension Departments. Becoming a Senior Partner in 2012.

The firm is now McIntyre, Donohue, Accardi, Salmonson & Riordan, LLP. ("MDASR")
